Our Body Contouring department was established in 2006, pioneering innovative devices like VelaShape® and CoolSculpting® early on. Our body team are graduates of CoolSculpting University and members of the American Society of Laser Medicine & Surgery. Their skillful eye and experience along with our variety of body contouring devices provides us the ability to achieve results that are subtle to results that are dramatic.
When you choose Arbutus Laser, you’re choosing a team with a reputation of state-of-the-art technologies, patient satisfaction and medically and ethically based standards-of-care. That is why there are no salespeople at our clinic and we do not have commissioned based incentives for the team. We truly want to use all that we know to help you determine what is best for you!

Fat Reduction
Body fat, also known as adipose tissue, obtains several important functions such as energy storage, insulation, cushioning, and the regulation of various bodily processes. There are two types of fat which we can treat at Arbutus Laser:
Subcutaneous fat– this pinchable layer of fat sits directly underneath the skin’s surface, cushioning the bones and joints. It’s the body’s most abundant type of fat and tends to accumulate around the waist, hips, upper back, buttocks, and thighs.
Visceral fat accumulates deep in the abdominal cavity, wrapping around digestive organs like the pancreas, intestines, and liver but also the heart. This type of fat responds well to diet and exercise.

At Arbutus Laser Centre, we believe in providing our patients with individualized treatment plans that are unique to their goals and outcomes.
We employ two effective tools that are both designed to aid in fat reduction.
CoolSculpting®: With the power of cryolipolysis, CoolSculpting® delivers precisely controlled cooling to target the fat cells underneath the skin. Treated fat cells are crystallized (frozen), destroyed, and then over time your body naturally processes the fat and eliminates these dead cells. It is ideal for targeting stubborn fat pockets that are resistant to diet and exercise.
EMSCULPT NEO® is a non-invasive body shaping and strengthening device that combines radiofrequency (RF) and high-intensity focused electromagnetic energy (HIFEM). This combination contracts muscle fibers at intensities that are not achievable during voluntary workout, resulting in building muscle, tightening skin and burning fat all at the same time.
What You Can Expect:
During your consultation, we will assess your treatment area and discuss the option that would best target your area of concern.
It is more than likely you may need multiple treatment sessions.
Some mild discomfort can occur with Coolsculpting® post treatment. More details will be explained during consultation.
Costs of the Emsculpt® or Coolsculpting® to reduce fat will depend on the treatment area and the number of cycles needed. Costs start at $1500.

While our treatment options for body contouring are the same for fat reduction, results can vary greatly due to placement, chosen applicators and number of treatments. We offer two effective devices that are designed to define and shape the body.

Cellulite Reduction
Cellulite occurs when fat cells accumulate and push against the skin while fibrous connective cords beneath your skin pull down. This results in undesired dimpling and an uneven surface of the skin. The most common areas of cellulite are found on the thighs, buttocks, arms and abdomen.
OUR APPROACH TO CELLULITE REDUCTION
For treating cellulite, we will look at the area of concern during consultation to determine if you are a candidate. We may consider a combination of treatment options to meet the desired results.
Our preferred treatment option for cellulite is the VelaShape® III.
The VelaShape® III treatment is designed to reduce the appearance of cellulite, tighten skin & stimulate the formation of new collagen without surgery or downtime.
We introduced the first VelaShape® device to British Columbia in 2006. The new VelaShape® III is the latest Vela device manufactured by Candela.
Our skilled technicians have years of expertise in this arena and are here to educate you on cellulite reduction and what VelaShape® III can do for you.
What You Can Expect:
During your consultation, we will assess your area of concern and determine if VelaShape® III is best for you.
Multiple treatment sessions are required with maintenance treatments after.
VelaShape® III offers an experience similar to a deep tissue massage.
Pricing for the Velashape® will depend on the size of the treatment areas. Abdomen, buttocks and thighs may be combined, or quoted separately. Pricing will typically range from $500-$800 per session and up.

EMSCULPT NEO® is a non-invasive body shaping and strengthening device that combines radiofrequency (RF) and high-intensity focused electromagnetic energy (HIFEM). This combination contracts muscle fibers at intensities that are not achievable during voluntary workout, resulting in building muscle, tightening skin and burning fat all at the same time.
Thermage: This system is designed to deliver high-energy radio-frequency to the skin causing tightening by using heat to denature collagen molecules. During its healing, the denatured collagen molecules are remodeled whilst creating more collagen molecules resulting in a shrinkage and tightening effect of the skin.
RF Microneedling: RF energy is delivered through microneedles in to the deeper layers of the skin, heating the tissue and further stimulating collagen production. This combination of microneedling and RF energy amplifies the overall effectiveness of the treatment, leading to more significant skin tightening and rejuvenation results.

We have also found the EMSCULPT NEO® to enhance workouts as it provides more strength therefore extending stamina in exercise and increasing more reps with weights.
