Arbutus Laser | 30+ Years of Patience Centred-Excellence
We understand everyone’s body goals and concerns are unique. With combination of state-of-the-art technologies and customized treatment plans, we strive to achieve natural and transformative results. Our patient-centered approach encourages our clients to embrace their uniqueness and feel confident in their own skin.
CoolSculpting® is the world’s #1 fat reduction treatment. This non-invasive treatment targets stubborn areas of subcutaneous fat (pinchable fat above the muscle) through a proprietary cooling technology.
Having performed thousands of treatments since it was first introduced in 2010, we are proud of our long standing relationship with this unique technology.
We are experienced professionals dedicated to achieving your body goals. Start your journey to a more sculpted and confident you here.
CoolSculpting® is a unique method of fat destruction using cold temperatures known as cryolipolysis. The area to be treated (abdomen, flanks, back, chin, knees, and inner/outer thighs) is drawn into a suction applicator and the area is cooled to destroy fat cells without destroying muscle or skin cells. Over the following weeks, the body’s natural processes gradually eliminate the treated fat cells, resulting in a reduction of fat in the treated area.
The treatment is generally well tolerated, completely non-invasive, and takes an average of 35-60 minutes per treatment area. A minimum of 20% of fat cells are destroyed in each session. We have multiple machines on site and are able to dual-sculpt parallel sites (or people – come with a friend!) at the same time.
Body Contouring with CoolSculpting® is an art. Selection and placement of applicators is critical for beautiful results and evaluating your body is key for us to make the most successful treatment choice for you.
We have proudly been a part of 12 FDA and Health Canada Coolsculpting® medical studies in discovering new techniques, treatment applicators and treatment areas of the body.
The ZWave massaging technique for enhanced results, our most recognized study, is a practice now used worldwide post Coolsculpting® treatment. It is also taught as part of standard protocol after Coolsculpting® treatments. ZWave is a complementary procedure we offer after every Coolsculpting® cycle to enhance the efficacy of fat cell destruction. We always combine this with an additional manual massage to ensure the best results possible.
Our technicians are active members of the American Society of Laser Surgery and Medicine (ASLMS) and certified through attending Coolsculpting® University in California. Their experience, aesthetic eye and hands-on skill provide customized, optimal results.
You can return to normal activities immediately. It is possible to have some temporary minor bruising, swelling, tingling and numbness. We recommend allowing a one month window before important events (weddings, vacations etc). In our experience, negative side effects are rare.
Pricing for CoolSculpting® will depend on the desired treatment areas and the number of cycles. Several cycles may be required to achieve desired results. Average spend for this non-surgical approach can range from $1500 – $10 000 depending on the scope of work, but may be divided into specific areas over time.
It is always our goal to provide excellent value for this service with highly skilled providers at industry average pricing. We recommend completing one area to satisfaction before approaching new sites.
As each patient is quoted and treated individually, a complimentary Body Contouring consultation with one of our experts will provide more information on the expected number of treatments and cost per session that are likely to achieve your desired outcome.
Arbutus Laser offers several types of body contouring treatments, which expands our ability to use combination solutions and cater to individual goals. Our team is here to help you determine the best options for your unique body.
The Arbutus Laser Centre was the first to discover that the use of massage immediately post CoolSculpting® substantially increased fat destruction. We hypothesized that massaging the treated site effectively disrupted more fat cells resulting in an overall higher reduction of fat cells. This led to further massage studies resulting in published articles and speaking at the American Society of Laser and Medicine Conference in 2015.
The Arbutus Laser Centre was also the research facility for using CoolSculpting® on new areas of the body such as inner thighs, flanks and arms, resulting in the development and testing of new applicators. We are proud to have contributed to the innovation and success of CoolSculpting® in its primary years.
A: The CoolSculpting® fat-reduction procedure is specially designed for those who have unwanted fat in targeted areas. Unlike weight-loss surgery (e.g. gastric bypass), the CoolSculpting® procedure is not a weight-loss solution for people who are obese. Good candidates for the CoolSculpting® procedure have unwanted fat in certain areas they’d like to get rid of. Many people want a non-surgical alternative to liposuction.
A:CoolSculpting® is not for everyone. You should not have CoolSculpting® if you suffer from cryoglobulinaemia, cold agglutinin disease, or paroxysmal cold haemoglobinuria. CoolSculpting® is not a treatment for obesity.
A: Once the treated fat cells are crystallized (frozen), they are destroyed and naturally eliminated from the body through a process called phagocytosis. Once the treated fat cells are gone, they’re gone for good.
A: As a leading non-surgical fat-reduction treatment worldwide, CoolSculpting® has a well-established safety and efficacy profile. CoolSculpting® systems are controlled cooling devices designed with built-in safety measures. If sensors detect that the skin is getting too cold, the system will shut down automatically.
A: As the cooling begins during the first few minutes, you typically feel a strong cooling sensation. This should soon dissipate. With some applicators, you’ll feel some pulling as suction is applied.
After the treatment, you may feel some tingling as the area is massaged for approximately 2 minutes. Patients are usually able to return to normal activities following their appointment.
A: Typical side effects include redness, swelling, blanching, bruising, firmness, tingling, stinging, tenderness, cramping, aching, itching, skin sensitivity and numbness. Numbness can persist for up to several weeks. There may be a sensation of fullness in the back of the throat after submental treatment. These effects are temporary and generally resolve within days or weeks.
Though rare, some additional side effects such as paradoxical hyperplasia, late onset pain, freeze burn, vasovagal symptoms, subcutaneous induration, hyperpigmentation and hernia may also occur.
A: Most patients start to see improvement in as little as 4 weeks and full results can be expected
between 3 and 6 months following treatment.
A: The price for CoolSculpting® procedures varies depending on your areas of concern, the number of treatments needed and your ultimate goals.
A: CoolSculpting® is not a weight loss procedure but a targeted fat reduction treatment. It is best suited for individuals close to their ideal weight with localized fat deposits.
A: CoolSculpting primarily targets and reduces fat cells beneath the skin’s surface with minimal impact on cellulite. Our Velashape® III is specifically designed to address cellulite.
A: While CoolSculpting can reduce fat and may create some tightening, its primary function does not address loose or sagging skin. We carry other technologies that are better suited for skin tightening.
A: CoolSculpting® is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding individuals. There is limited data available on its safety in these cases and we believe that it is best to allow your body to stabilize after pregnancy before determining an appropriate strategy.
