WHAT is Thermage®?
This system is designed to deliver high-energy radio-frequency to the skin causing tightening by using heat to denature collagen molecules. During its healing, the denatured collagen molecules are remodeled whilst creating more collagen molecules resulting in a shrinkage and tightening effect of the skin.
It is primarily used to lift the brows and jowls, and to tighten skin on the cheeks, chin, and upper neck. We have also found it to be effective in tightening skin on the body including areas like the abdomen, knees, arms, flanks, and thighs. The procedure is suitable for individuals with mild to moderate skin laxity, seeking a more youthful appearance without the risks and recovery associated with surgical interventions.
‘Eyes by Thermage®’ is an additional treatment that focuses on the upper and lower eyelids within the periorbital bone (your eyes are protected with eyeshields). It is designed to tighten the lids and lift the brow at the same time.
We recommend this procedure annually as a preventative measure to minimize future laxity and the signs of aging.

Our approach to Thermage®
Treatment results do vary and the best results we have seen are from our patients who maintain their annual treatments. Annual treatments are recommended for very best long term results and starting at a younger age results in better preservation.
Follow up photos are taken at 6 months.
Some may find Thermage® to be uncomfortable due to its lengthy session. Our skilled technicians are trained to treat quickly, thoroughly, and manage discomfort with modalities including the CPT (comfort pulse tip) and more. Options can be discussed during consultation.

CONSIDERATIONS
Good hydration, a full belly and being well-rested are recommended prior to treatment. Return to normal activities immediately. Mono-polar technology is not suitable for patients with metal implants or pacemakers. Pregnancy is contraindicated.

Combining treatments may provide more dramatic improvement, especially in more mature faces. This combination is not usually performed on the same day.
Q: How soon after a Thermage® treatment can I resume my regular exercise routine?
A: You can typically resume your regular exercise routine immediately after a Thermage® treatment. There are no restrictions on physical activities following the procedure.
Q: Can Thermage® be used on Body sites?
A: YES! Thermage® Body provides us with some very satisfying results. Please ask one of our Physicians or Body Contouring staff if you have an area of concern that you would like to address. Mommy tummies are one of our favorite projects.
Q: Is there an optimal age to undergo Thermage® for preventive skin tightening?
A: There is no specific age requirement for Thermage®. Individuals in their 30s or early 40s may consider Thermage® for preventive skin tightening, while others may seek it for more visible skin laxity as they age.
Q: How long do the results of Thermage® last, and can additional treatments prolong the effects?
A: The results of the Thermage® peak at 6 months which is why we recommend annual maintenance treatments to continue to promote ongoing collagen production. If your results were beyond your expectation, we recommend solidifying your results with another treatment at 6 months.
