Fraxel® & fractionated resurfacing is an advanced and innovative laser technology used in dermatology and aesthetic medicine. It has come to be known for its remarkable precision, minimal downtime, and ability to deliver long-lasting improvements in the skin’s texture, tone, and overall appearance. We introduced the first Fraxel® device to Western Canada in 2005.
The Fraxel® laser operates on a fractional resurfacing principle, meaning it treats only a fraction of the skin’s surface at a time. This allows the laser to create thousands of micro-thermal zones which are replaced with new healthy skin in only a few days. New collagen is produced, and as the skin mends from the bottom up. This method of resurfacing has greatly reduced the risk of infections, adverse reactions and downtime, which is why it has gained such popularity over the years.
The Fraxel® laser can address fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, sunspots, age spots, pigmentation irregularities, and rough texture. It is particularly effective in tackling signs of aging and environmental damage.
Fraxel® treatments are tailored to individual needs and skin types, making it a versatile option for various candidates. The level of intensity can be adjusted, allowing for a personalized approach to address different areas of concern and desired outcomes.
With two different wavelengths at our disposal, 1550nm and 1927nm, we are able to cater to your specific needs. The Fraxel Dual® option (using both wavelengths simultaneously) allows for the treatment of pigmentation and textural improvements. This has been a popular choice for many as patients report seeing and feeling the difference.
Fraxel® may be approached either conservatively or aggressively depending on what conditions are being treated. It can be used conservatively from melasma conditions to aggressively for those deep, severe acne scars and everything in between.
In addition, applying Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) topically post Fraxel® treatment can enhance treatment outcomes.
We are committed to providing excellent home care for post-resurfacing procedures to ensure patients are getting the best possible long-term outcome from the Fraxel®.
Not suitable for dark or tanned skins. Sun exposure must be avoided after treatment. Most effective when done in a series. Maintenance treatments are beneficial.
Pricing for Fraxel® and fractionated resurfacing will vary based on the treatment area and the concerns being treated. It is always our goal to provide excellent value for this service with highly skilled providers at industry average pricing.
Consultation is required to book Fraxel® treatments. We offer a wide variety of laser treatments, which expands our ability to cater to individual preferences. Different types of laser and skin renewal treatments have slightly different benefits, and our team will discuss the best options for your specific skin needs during consultation.
A: Fraxel® treatments are generally well-tolerated, and topical anesthesia is applied before the procedure to minimize discomfort.
A: While Fraxel® can deliver long-lasting improvements, the natural aging process and environmental factors will eventually affect the skin. However, proper skincare and sun protection can help prolong the results. Many of our patients will have a series of Fraxel® treatments every few years and/or maintain with annual treatments.
Some patients may notice improvements in their skin texture and tone within a few weeks after the first session. However, significant changes and optimal results typically become more apparent 3-6 months after completing the recommended series of treatments.
